Piezoelectric Based Energy Harvesting

ABSTRACT:


Piezoelectric materials harvest electrical charges when exposed to dynamic strain. These
materials can be employed to capture and hoard vibrational energy which in future can be
dedicated to power up small devices. A lot of investigation has been performed on the
technology of piezoelectric based energy collection, but it is primarily engrossed on the
theoretical model and the laboratory tests and lacks the on-site performance assessment. In
this project we are aiming our techniques and knowledge to generate electricity with the
help of piezoelectric material, the detailed design and use of piezoelectric materials to
harvest energy from vibration. There are many opportunities to convert mechanical to
electrical energy such as human motion, vehicles, machines and streets. Our project
involves the development of a prototype that may be referred to as Piezoelectric Energy
Harvester (PEH).
